Cold Compression Therapy After Hip Surgery

The hip can be challenging to cool with ordinary ice packs because of its shape, depth and the surrounding upper-thigh area. NICE1 provides controlled cold therapy and pneumatic compression through a wrap designed to fit around the hip.

The system is iceless, so you do not need to repeatedly lift bags of ice, refill a reservoir or rotate frozen packs while your mobility is limited.

Book Your Hip Cold Therapy Machine

Reserve a NICE1 machine with a hip wrap for consistent cold and compression therapy during your recovery at home. Choose a 2- or 4-week rental with nationwide delivery.

A Wrap Designed Around the Hip

The NICE1 Hip Wrap is shaped to provide contact around the hip and upper thigh rather than cooling only one small surface area.

It can be configured for either hip and uses layered, breathable materials to provide a secure fit. Appropriate fit is important because it keeps the wrap positioned around the intended treatment area.

How NICE1 Works

NICE1 combines two functions in one system:

Controlled cold therapy

Temperature-controlled water circulates through the Hip Wrap. Choose from five cold levels ranging from 14.4°C to 5.5°C.

Adjustable pneumatic compression

Air chambers within the wrap provide low, medium or high compression. Compression can be constant or intermittent.

The touchscreen also allows manual sessions from 5–40 minutes and preset programmes. Your surgeon or healthcare professional should advise which settings are appropriate for your procedure.

Hip Procedures NICE1 May Be Used After

A NICE1 hip rental may be considered following:

  • Total hip replacement
  • Hip arthroscopy
  • Labral repair
  • Femoroacetabular impingement surgery
  • Other hip procedures where cold therapy is recommended
  • Certain acute hip or upper-thigh injuries under professional guidance

Cold and compression therapy should form only one part of your recovery plan. Continue following all instructions concerning medication, wound care, walking aids, movement precautions and physiotherapy.

Why Iceless Operation Matters After Hip Surgery

Limited mobility can make ordinary ice-machine maintenance difficult. NICE1’s internal cooling system removes the need to repeatedly carry ice or empty melted water.

The selected temperature remains consistent throughout the session, and the machine can be operated through its touchscreen once the wrap and hose are connected.
